The brand new retina display-packing MacBook Pro may have stolen the show at Apple's WWDC bash, but the California company hasn't forgotten about the MacBook Air and regular MacBook Pro, giving both products a refresh. Read on for specs and check back for UK prices.
MacBook Air refresh
Apple's MacBook Air now packs Intel Ivy Bridge processors, keeping things up to date under the bonnet. The most basic 11-inch model offers a 1.7GHz dual-core i5 CPU, along with 4GB of RAM and Intel HD 4000 graphics.
Battery life is touted as 5 hours, while you get 64GB of flash storage on board. More money gets you 128GB of storage. The cheapest option will set you back £850. Expect the price to skyrocket as you add more storage and memory.
The 13-inch Air now packs 1.8GHz dual-core i5 chips, 4GB of RAM and those same Intel graphics. Battery life is 7 hours. Apple says that you can opt for up to half a terabyte of flash storage and up to 8GB of RAM, though expect those extras to set you back a lot of cash. The 13-inch Air starts at £1,000.
There's no change to the Air's display resolution, but you do not get a 720p Facetime camera or a USB 3.0 slot.
MacBook Pro refresh
The chunkier MacBook Pro has also been treated to new Ivy Bridge processors, with the 13-inch option starting at a 2.5GHz dual-core i5 chip. That gets you Intel HD 4000 graphics and 500GB of storage, along with 7 hours of battery life. The 13-inch Pro starts at £1,000.
The 15-inch model starts with a 2.3GHz quad-core i7 chip, GeForce GT 650M graphics and costs at least £1,800. Again, expect ramping up storage and memory to come at a hefty cost.
The MacBook Pro still sports an optical drive, with new processors and two USB 3.0 ports providing most of the excitement.
